Flagship Scheme
We have received a very high standard of applications from a diverse range of unique projects. The exciting announcement of the Flagship projects to be funded will be made in October 2009 at the Biffaward Awards.
The 2009 Flagship Scheme application process is anticipated re-open on 02 March 2009.
What is the Flagship Scheme?
Through our Flagship Scheme we look to fund projects that have something unique and exciting that no other project in the region, or country, has. Grants of £150,000 - £500,000 are available.
What will we fund?
The Flagship Scheme supports two themes - rebuilding biodiversity and cultural facilities. We no longer fund community buildings through the Flagship Scheme.
Projects must be site-based, within 25 miles of a Biffa operation and ten miles of an active landfill. The organisation making the application must be eligible to enrol with ENTRUST as an Environmental Body.
When - and how - do I apply?
Unlike our Small and Main Grants schemes, Flagship applications are only accepted at a certain time each year. The closing date for the 2008 round of funding was 01 July 2008. Currently we are at Stage 2, where presentations from each of the Flagship applicants will be reviewed and shortlisted to continue to Stage 3. The 2009 Flagship Scheme first stage 'Expression of Interest' form will be available from 02 March 2009, by contacting our Regional Grants Officers.
The timescale for the current round of Flagships is below:
