Biffaward awards grants to projects that are within a certain distance of an active Biffa operation.  Both the Main Grants Community and Small Grants funding schemes require an active Biffa operation to be within 10 miles of the project site. However, if you're applying under the Main Grants Biodiversity or Flagship Scheme the radius is extended to within 25 miles.

If you are looking for funding for a project, the first step is to check here to see if you are within the required distances of a Biffa operation.

To ensure your postcode is correct, please visit www.royalmail.com and use the 'postcode finder' facility, as postcodes are regularly changed and updated.

If you identify that the nearest Biffa operation is not a landfill site but a different kind of Biffa operation, you must also provide details of the nearest landfill site. This is due to the ENTRUST regulations that state that all projects under objects D, DA & E must be within 10 miles of a landfill site. There are numerous ways you can find out where the nearest landfill site is in location to your project:

• Refer to the Environment Agency website www.environment-agency.gov.uk and click onto their ‘At home & leisure' section, from which you can access landfill site maps. Or call their general enquires line on 08708 506 506.
• You can call your local authority and ask for their waste department.
• HM Revenue and Customs also has a list of landfill site operators, www.hmrc.gov.uk - search for landfill sites operators in search box and then click 'list of landfill site operators'.
• Alternatively, please go to the LCF website www.entrust.org.uk/home/lcf for further information.
