New Annual Report published (12 October 2007)

2006-2007 Annual Report front coverChairman of Biffaward, Martin Bettington, said that he was delighted to announce the arrival of the 2006-2007 Biffaward Annual Report at the annual Biffaward Awards, held on 3 October.

This year's report, available to download from Biffaward's website, celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Landfill Communities Fund and also marks a major milestone for Biffaward - £80 million distributed throughout the UK to more than 1,000 community and environmental projects.

2007 Biffaward Awards winnerSeventeen community and environmental projects around the country contested this year’s Biffaward Awards ceremony held in Manchester on 3 October.  

 

Peter Jones OBE, Biffa's Director of External Affairs, presented the Overall Winner’s prize to Long Whatton Cricket Club near Loughborough, Leicestershire; the Club won the Small Grants category  and then went on to claim the top prize  - a total prize of £7,000 plus an exclusive trophy.

Biffaward is launching a new drive to encourage more environmental and community groups to apply for funding to help protect and rebuild the UK’s biodiversity – up to £2.4 million a year will be available over the next three years.

Flagships 2007 sail ahead (02 July 2007)

Biffaward saw a record number of Flagship applications at the June 2007 deadline.  

Villagers in Marsham have benefited from a £1,900 grant from Biffaward, part of the multi-million pound environment fund managed by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts, which uses landfill tax credits donated by Biffa Waste Services.

A project to transform Wiltshire’s only open-air pool got underway last week, as work started to give ‘The Rec’ a sliding roof.
