Biffaward Annual Report 2007-08 (02 October 2008)
|
Biffaward has today published its Annual Report and Accounts 2007-2008, which celebrates another successful year of awarding more than £10 million to projects, supporting the enhancement of our environment and communities. (Click on the Annual Report to download) |
Biffaward is a multi-million pound environmental fund, managed by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts, which uses landfill tax credits donated by Biffa Waste Services. Since 1997, Biffaward has awarded nearly £100 million in funding to projects throughout the UK: revitalising community facilities such as village halls and play areas, improving access and understanding in our countryside, investing in our cultural buildings, and enhancing biodiversity by protecting threatened habitats and species.
The report celebrates eleven years of investment. Biffaward's Chairman, Tim Lowth, is proud of the fund's achievements and says "This year, Biffaward has again distributed more than £10 million in funding to a diverse range of worthwhile projects throughout the UK. The impact of Biffaward funding can be seen - and felt - in all communities it supports."

Important Update: Changes to ENTRUST levy (11 August 2008)
From 01 July 2008 the ENTRUST levy increased to 2.28%.
From 01 September 2008 this will affect all third party contributions (TPC).
TPC is calculated on the gross award. The gross award is based on the net award plus the ENTRUST levy. For example, an award of £50,000 net becomes £51,166.60 gross, therefore £5,116.66 is payable as the TPC. If you are invited to submit a full stage application, our revised form with guidance will explain how applicants should calculate the amount of TPC required. The revised form will be available from 01 September 2008.

IMPORTANT UPDATE - changes to the Main Grants application process (01 April 2008)
We have made some important and exciting changes to the application process for the Main Grants scheme.
A new 'Expression of Interest' form (available on our downloads page) has replaced the traditional application form. The new form is shorter, and gives you the chance to 'sell' your project to us. If your project meets our assessment criteria and ticks all the right boxes, we will invite you to complete a full application for consideration by the Biffaward Board.
From 30 April 2008, we will only accept applications made on the Expression of Interest form. Any applications received after this date using the old form will be returned.
These changes are designed to improve the process - as we continue to receive high numbers of applications, they will enable us to take forward the best proposals and give better guidance to those who have been unsuccessful.
You will not be required to be enrolled as an Environmental Body with ENTRUST at the Expression of Interest stage. However, this will be necessary if you are invited to make a full application.
If you have any queries about these changes, please contact us on 01636 670000 or email biffaward@rswt.org.
