Local wildlife haven wins National Biffaward Award (09 October 2009)

Biffaward Awards, 2009 A small environment project in Farnham, Surrey is celebrating after winning an environmental award at the annual Biffaward Awards 2009. The awards highlight the achievements of environmental projects from across the country and recognised the everyday heroes who gave so much to deliver them. Held in the splendour of the Royal Hall in Harrogate, the Bourne Conservation Group was presented with a trophy and a cheque for £2000, a substantial cash boost for their activities.

Worsall Village Hall winner North Yorkshire's Worsall Village residents are celebrating after winning an environmental award at the annual Biffaward Awards 2009. The awards celebrated the achievements of environmental projects from across the country and recognised the everyday heroes who gave so much to deliver them. Held in the splendour of the Royal Hall in Harrogate, the Worsall Village Hall project team were presented with a trophy and a cheque for £2000, a substantial cash boost for their facility.

Local Woodland does the double at National Biffaward Awards (09 October 2009)

Bearsted winner The team behind Bearsted Woodland Trust in Maidstone are celebrating after winning two prestigious environmental awards at the annual Biffaward Awards 2009. The awards celebrated the achievements of environmental projects from across the country and recognised the everyday heroes who gave so much to deliver them. Held in the splendour of the Royal Hall in Harrogate, the Bearsted Woodland Trust not only won their own category but outclassed 19 other projects to be crowned the overall Biffaward project of the year. Bearsted Woodland Trust was presented with a trophy and a cheque for £7000, a substantial cash boost for their facility.

Scotland welcomes back the beaver (29 May 2009)

The Scottish Beaver Trial (SBT), a partnership project run by Scottish Wildlife Trust (SWT), the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) officially begins today (Friday 29 May) as the first beavers to live in Scotland for over 400 years are released into the wild. The trial is mostly funded thanks to private donations and grants, including up to £1 million from Biffaward and support from People's Postcode Lottery and People's Trust for Endangered Species.

Playscape opens to West London residents of Hanwell (11 May 2009)

Groundwork London formally opened the Biffaward funded 'Playing It Naturally' project's flagship playscape at King Georges Field, Hanwell, on Saturday 09 May. Everyone was welcome to enjoy the celebrations and experience this exciting and innovative new play space. Local residents enjoyed tree climbing and den building workshops, playful planting sessions, face painting, and were given the opportunity to meet the designers and contractors.

Creatures of the Night in Cambridgeshire (30 April 2009)

One of the world's rarest species of newt is being given a life line in Cambridgeshire. The Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Peterborough has managed to secure a £35,500 grant from Biffaward, which will help increase the number of great crested newts in the county.

Major boost for UK's fragmented and threatened ecosystems (28 April 2009)

Biffaward has pledged to award up to £1.78 million over the next three years to help fund The Wildlife Trusts' national wetland restoration and flood alleviation programme - benefiting people and wildlife throughout England, Wales and Ireland.

Local residents celebrate the completion of Kingston Park Green (23 March 2009)

On the 14 March, the 32nd Newcastle Brownies and Girl Guides and the Kingston Park Cub Scouts joined local residents to celebrate the completion of the Kingston Park Green project. The celebration involved the planting of 500 new trees throughout the Green. Guest of honour was Local Councillor Ian Graham, who officially opened the Green's new paths, landscaping and wonderful playground.

Biffaward awarded over £49,000 towards the improvements at Kingston Park Green.
