Project News

Since January 2010, Biffaward has awarded 65 projects more than £2 million in funding. For awarded projects, Rebuilding Biodiversity is our most popular theme. However, we would very much welcome applications for any exciting project ideas related to Cultural Facilities.

A number of projects have now completed their funded work, and all deserve credit. To read more about projects in your region, visit our case study page

A few to catch our eye recently include:

Somerset Wildlife Trust – Restoring habitat for dormice in Somerset
The Biffaward grant of £41,000 has helped the Trust to restore and create habitat for the Hazel Dormouse in Harridge Woods and Cheddar Wood. The project promoted biodiversity further by also benefiting other important species such as horseshoe bats, purple gromwell and starved wood sedge.

Greenwich Foundation for the Old Royal Naval College
£50,000 Biffaward grant has contributed to a permanent exhibition in the main hall, as well as a learning suite and temporary exhibition gallery, cafe, shop and tourist information centre.

Dorset Wildlife Trust  – Brownsea Lagoon Project
£43,000 has helped fund the installation of an electric pumping system and existing wind pump as part of a restoration plan for the nesting facilities and the establishment of a monitoring programme to restore and enhance Saline Laggon, an important Biodiversity Habitat.
